Cat Watch Rescue Shelter (CWRS)

Founded in 2019 in Amesbury, Wiltshire, CWRS is a small,

volunteer run charity that has rescued over 1,500 cats and kittens

across Wiltshire and Hampshire. We are powered entirely by donations

and the dedication of our volunteers, no salaries, just pure commitment.

Our Mission

To rescue, rehabilitate, and, when possible, rehome cats who have been abandoned, are

stray, or feral. Every cat is given urgent veterinary care, neutering, vaccinations,

microchipping, and most importantly the chance of a safe and loving future. Because cats

need hero’s too!

Core Values

- Timely rescue: Establishing each cat’s homeless status quickly and compassionately.

- Respect for individuality: Every cat is a unique being with feelings, personality, and intrinsic

worth.

- The Five Freedoms: Care guided by the Animal Welfare Act,

ensuring cats live painfree and with dignity.

- Tailored care: Emotional and physical needs addressed

individually, with rehoming based on readiness.

- TNR for ferals: Trap, neuter, release, giving feral cats safety

without contributing to overpopulation.

- Transparency with adopters: Sharing all known health or

emotional challenges, with full rescue backup.

- Responsible veterinary care: Treatment provided when in the cat’s best interests, within

sensible financial limits.

- Euthanasia only as a last resort: Considered solely when quality of life is severely

compromised.

What We Do

CWRS is not a rehoming centre, but in dire emergencies, such as the death of an owner,

neglect, or domestic violence, we step in when space allows. Our foster network provides

safe havens for cats in crisis, ensuring they are never left without care. Cats looking for new

homes can be found here.

The Challenge

With vet bills and living costs soaring, our monthly expenses average £9,000. Adoption fees

barely cover the basics. Donations are our lifeline, every penny goes directly to food,

medical care, and rescue efforts.

Love Louie and Cat Watch Rescue Shelter working together

To help meet these rising costs, CWRS has teamed up with Love Louie. Together, we’ve

created fundraising boxes containing at least five handpicked items, toys and treats chosen

with feedback from our Cat Watch Graduates. Every purchase supports our mission and

keeps cats safe.
